The Writer's Block Tarot Spread

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” ― Maya Angelou
Have you ever wondered how many book titles there would be in circulation if everyone who ever dreamed about writing a book actually did write one? Are you dreaming about writing a book too? You're not alone!
Since I was about 15, I have known that I have a book in me. Going by the amount of words I blog on a weekly basis, I have several. So how come I can't seem to commit to writing one? I have a great first sentence for one book and am about a third way through three abandoned book projects over the past few years. Sigh.
Perhaps you can relate to this? Perhaps you're struggling to get started or stay committed? Perhaps you prefer the dream of having written a Pulitzer prize winning New York Times best seller to the harsh reality of putting ink on paper (or pixels on a screen)?
I found some brilliant quotes in this article by Arielle Ford and though that I could turn a few of those into a Tarot Spread that could help me stay on track with the idea I have now for a book:
1. Release yourself from the expectation that they have to be a perfect, brilliant 500 words. Just show up each day and do your best for that day. ~ Spring
This one is about discipline and not getting caught in the trap of 'perfection' as there is no such thing anyway!

2. Our inspiration comes in the form of the deeply held belief that someone else, right now, is writing the same book, and they could beat us to market if we don't hurry. ~ Jon
Are you meant to write this book? Are you the Universe's first choice? Look for positive reinforcement here. Any expansive cards (especially The Wheel of Fortune), the Aces and any of your birth cards or court cards would be confirmation.
3. Pretend it is like great sex! Writing and sex are both about being in the moment, being in the flow of energy. Also, pray to your personal muses. ~ Laurie
On how to get your spiritual mojo going, what deities / muses to call on and how to stay in a state of relaxed flow. Your creative mojo and your sex drive are totally made of the same stuff...
4. For me, when writing wanes, it is usually because a bigger/deeper/truer thought than the one I have in mind is trying to break through. So I hold that possibility and look for it. ~ Robin
Are you meant to be writing something else? One of the positive/expansive cards in this position could mean you are meant to write something else and need to sit tight until you know exactly what.
First you need to choose a significator for yourself - one that is in harmony with your ideal writer persona. For me it was a no-brainer: The Magician... However, it may be another card entirely for you. Maybe the The Queen of Swords? Use your intuition!
The second card crosses your significator and symbolises your main current block/challenge. Around this central cross, you place the other four cards:

The Christmas Present Tarot Spread

$
0
0

Have you been naughty or nice this year, dear reader? Since you are reading this, I will make a bet that you are a nice and kind person and that your actions in 2014 have been a reflection of your gracious nature.

Tarotize usually attracts the most conscientious souls... the ones that wish to improve themselves (Mind Body and Spirit) as well as to work for the greater good of all of mankind. Kindred lightworkers, seers and healers all gather here.

That is why I thought it would be nice to take a break from our usual hard work. The spread above is a feel-good spread - my gift to you for being so darn good all year long! You get a sneak peek at the rewards waiting on the other side of New Year's.

It's a simple three card spread that is so simple that you can do it even after a glass mulled wine (or three)...

1. The main thing to look forward to in 2015
2. Three nice surprises in the year ahead (pull three cards for Christmas stocking!)
3. How I can make the world a more beautiful place next year

Don't worry about 'negative' cards showing up in this spread - every card contains the full spectrum of naughty and nice... just like you! If you get stuck I'm here to help :)

Sample Reading

The Bonefire Tarot by Gabi West
1. The main thing to look forward to in 2015. The 4 of Cups... Boredom? Really?! See, here we have a perfect example of a negative card showing up in a positive position. What could I possibly look forward to that the 4 of Cups has to offer. Well... for me to get bored, I would have to go on holiday nice, warm and gadget-free... Looking at the card gives me a feeling of being on holiday... without a care in the world. Boy, would that be AMAZING?! I've not been on a proper holiday since 2001.

2. Three nice surprises in the year ahead:

1. The Star - greater ease of manifestation, oneness
2. Ace of Wands - a surge in energy levels (that would be after that holiday then :) )
3. The Hierophant - yes, I'm getting married... it's my third wedding and it would be a nice surprise if I enjoyed the actual wedding this time.
3.  How I can make the world a more beautiful place next year. 2 of Swords - Peace. By living up to my name Frideborg, 'fortress of peace.'

After a quick overview I see that all suits but Pentacles are present. That is not a concern since the Star is present and since I don't doubt my ability to manifest all that I need. The quint for all five cards is 11 - Justice/Libra... apt for the year I get married :)

What presents did you unwrap? Tell me in the comments below!

A Holistic Yes/No Tarot Technique That Packs A Punch

$
0
0

How do you make a yes/no Tarot reading holistic? By asking the right question, in the right way and with the right tools!

The Right Question

The right yes/no question is as proactive and empowering as possible. An example of a yes/no question that disempowers is 'Should I...?' The Tarot will never tell you what you should or shouldn't do.

A better question to ask is 'Will going down this path bring me _________ (fill in blank for desired result)?' or 'Will doing this improve _________ (fill in blank for situation that you want to improve)?

Asking the Right Way

Ask in such a way that you will gain insights that you may not even be aware you need. Allow the Oracle to fill you in. Stay open... Be willing to surrender your ego to your Higher Self.

Write your question down. Make yourself accountable by keeping a record.

Note your emotional response and the synergy between your own energy and that of the card. It's all about tuning in and seeing/feeling how they connect.

The Right Tool

The Tarot is perfect for holistic yes/no readings as each of the 78 cards can give detailed information and spiritual guidance about any particular situation in addition to showing you yes/no.

Use a Tarot (or Lenormand) deck that helps you see the silver lining to every cloud - a deck that motivates and inspires you to be and do your best, fully embodied and responsible for your life choices.

As you will see in the sample reading below, I have chosen to work with the Archangel Power Tarot deck. Any deck that feels uplifting to you will work well.

THE HOLISTIC YES/NO TAROT TECHNIQUE

You will need a coin, a tarot (or lenormand) deck, your journal and a pen.

Take a minute to ground and centre. Flip a coin to determine if odd or even numbers are yes or no. Heads means that odd numbers are 'yes' and even numbers are 'no.' Tails means that odd numbers are 'no' and even numbers are 'yes.'

Write your question down and feel free to ask it out loud to get the vibration of your question into the cards.

Shuffle and cut the deck as usual. Fan the cards out before you and pick the card you feel most drawn to.

Note your initial reaction. Did you get a 'yes' or a 'no'? How does it make you feel. Look more closely at the card and the message. How does this tie in with the question you asked? What further insights can be gained beyond the surface yes/no answer?

Write it all down for future reference.

SAMPLE READING

"Will going tee total improve my quality of life?"

I chose this as my sample question because there is evidence that speaks in favour of moderate alcohol intake of red wine being beneficial for heart health. However, I believe this varies from individual to individual and I suspect I may be slightly intolerant to alcohol in general (I often sneeze after a couple of swigs).

Odd numbers are 'no'

As synchronicity would have it, I pulled the only card in the deck that does not have a number, 0 The Fool. I take this to mean that it really doesn't matter one way or another and that I need to follow my heart in the moment.

Would love to hear how you get on with this yes/no Tarot technique! Please leave a comment.

Karmic Grace Past Life Tarot Spread and Sample Reading

$
0
0

Past Life Astrology by Judy Hall is blowing my mind a little right now with how accurately it relates to my own life experience and my more or less educated guesses on what is karmic in this in this incarnation. I feel I finally have a chance to get a handle on what is what through reading this book and carefully studying my own birth chart.

Not only that, I believe this information translates beautifully into an opportunity to delve even deeper through targeted readings on each of the different types of personal karma.

Other types of karma are group karma, collective karma (global) and cosmic karma.

The different types of personal karma are, according to Judy Hall:

  • Merit karma (reward)
  • Recompense karma (repayment)
  • Redemptive karma (sacrifice for the greater good)
  • Retributive karma (an eye for an eye)
  • Attitudinal karma (ingrained beliefs)
  • Organic karma (karma carried by the body)
  • Karmic treadmill (addictions etc)
  • Work karma (pull toward certain types of work)
  • Symbolic karma (bed wetting for being a witch ducker, for instance)
  • Communication karma (mocking others in past lives etc)
  • Sins of omission and comission (difficult repeat life lessons)
  • Relationship karma (not getting over someone)
  • Pacts and promises (religious vows etc)
  • Karma in suspension (not possible to resolve in this lifetime)
  • Karma in the making
For what planetary and house aspects refer to each of the different types of karma, you will need to study the information in the book.

I have listed the various types of personal karma so that you can choose the area that you feel is most heavily impacting your life at this moment in time to read on.

How can reading on personal karma help you grow? It can help you grow by understanding exactly how this karma is playing out in your life today and also what grace you can call on to resolve the karma permanently once you have done all in your power to work things out.

This is especially true about relationship karma. I have met countless people who have been pulled into karmic relationships that leave them feeling as if they are banging their heads against the wall since there is no way forward for resolving things with the other person (ah, yes - free will!).

The spread that unfolded itself in my mind after reading this is quite deck specific but feel free to choose other decks that call to you. However for the Past Life position, I do recommend the Past Life Oracle Cards which I find spookily accurate.

For the Grace position, I have chosen to read with the Whispers of Love Oracle, which is wonderfully loving and gentle... just like grace :)

THE KARMIC GRACE TAROT SPREAD - SAMPLE READING ON PACTS AND PROMISES

Bonefire Tarot, Past Life Oracle and Whispers of Love Oracle

1. How this karma is playing itself out right now

Strength. Wow. Not only is this the year card for 2015, it is also the personal theme card I pulled for the year ahead on my birthday a few days ago! In my Zodiac reading, abundance issues were heavily emphasised. I have a huge opportunity to resolve some of this karma in the year ahead. Karmic Saturn is in Taurus in the 11th House in my natal chart...

2. (Crossing) Main challenge in order to resolve it

6 of Pentacles. Again, I find myself gobsmacked at how effin' spot on the cards are... It's like they've been gagging to read about karmic issues.

3. Past life connection

The reason I decided to read on this is because I seriously suspect monastic vows of poverty. Lo and behold... here we find the Spirituality and Religion card!

4. Grace that can be invoked to resolve this karma

Choose Love. This card is a reminder that I have the power to choose what to do about this situation. It is time to create a different, more loving vision for my financial future.

Doreen Virtue talks about how vows of poverty can be released with a bit of help from Archangel Michael... time for a release ceremony!

The Unexpected Plot Twist Tarot Spread

$
0
0

In the wake of the Aquarius New Moon, for which I suggested creating a Plot Twist to the Path of Your Destiny, I find myself unintentionally manifesting just such a plot twist in a very Uranian (Uranus rules Aquarius), i.e. bizarre and unexpected way. I really shouldn't be surprised at this though since so many planets are in Aquarius and Mercury has gone retrograde (and Goddess knows what else - I'm not an Astrologer!).

Nevertheless, I woke up knowing that I was done with alcohol. Permanently. Drinking something that is both inflammatory and expensive when I could be spending my money on food and drink that is healing instead just ceased to make sense.

If you have been following along on the blog, you may recall the reading I did a couple of weeks ago, using a new way of reading the Tarot on yes/no questions. For the sample reading I used the question: "Will going tee total improve my quality of life?"

I pulled the ONLY card that does NOT give a yes/no answer - The Fool! So what changed and how does that relate to me just waking up this morning and knowing I was done with alcohol forever? The Fool corresponds to Uranus, higher octave of Mercurius and plot twister extraordinaire. Seemingly out of the blue, Uranus can influence a person to make an 180 degree turnabout or to jump to the left without knowing where she'll land only to discover a whole new path.

It seems my logical mind was waiting to catch up with my Higher Mind which already knew that this plot twist was coming! I should have known to expect the unexpected when The Fool shows up :P

So now what? This is kind of a big deal. I live in England and drinking is a big part in how people socialise. It could impact my relationships in different ways. Mainly, I expect positive developments as a result of this choice but I thought it would be nice to do a Plot Twist reading. The spread I created for this can be used for any life choice which may come as a surprise to your friends and loved ones.

Here's to many happy unexpected plot twists on our Life's Journey!

10 Things A Professional Tarot Reader Will Not Do

$
0
0

Are you worried about getting a Tarot reading because you fear ending up in the hands of a charlatan? I have put together a list of things professional readers will not do to help safeguard your interests.

The three main marks of a true Tarot professional are:

  • they have your best interests at heart
  • the readings are empowering
  • a lot of effort is put into formulating the right questionsto help you move forward with your life

1. Be less than transparent about their ethics. Any professional Tarot reader worth the name will have their reader's ethics published on their website and in any leaflets they hand out.

2. Help you cheat. If you go to a Tarot reader and ask about how to keep cheating on your husband without him finding out or if you are safe to leave your husband for someone you are seeing on the side because you are afraid of the financial repercussions they may or may not choose to read for you. Please understand this: a reader who does read on this sort of question is totally out of whack with their Higher Self and the 'advice' you get will be of very poor quality (low energy vibration). You are already in a bad place and getting a reading to try to justify it will only make it worse.

A true professional will decline to read on this because they have standards, seek to genuinely help their clients and simply don't want that kind of karma on their soul's record. This has nothing to with being judgmental, as some would claim, but everything to do with being spiritually discerning.

3. Suggest a medical treatment or a financial investment. Expert advice in these areas are best left to the experts. A Tarot reader who is also an energy healer or alternative health therapist may offer advice regarding complimentary treatments but will be very clear on the fact that this advice is never meant to replace that of a medical professional.

4. Take money off clients to reverse family curses. This is one of the oldest charlatan tricks in the world. Unsuspecting Tarot clients will go to a reader who delivers a string of bad news and tells them this is what their future will look like because you have a family curse on your head. Luckily for you, they know how to reverse this curse... for a small fee, of course.

5. Keep you hanging on the phone for as long as possible. Sadly, this goes for most psychic phone lines. Having worked for one myself and spoken with colleagues who have experience with psychic phone lines, it would seem they are all corrupt and many employ people who aren't really Tarot readers at all. They act the part and have a script they use to keep you hanging on for as long as possible while the £££ pile up.

If you prefer a voice connection, I suggest finding and independent reader who offers phone or skype readings.

6. Do free readings. While a professional may occasionally do the odd free mini taster sessions to promote their work, they will not offer free full length readings. No real professional can afford to do so. Professional Tarot readers pay their bills, national insurance contributions and taxes doing what they do. Most earn just enough to get by. It is not a get rich quick scheme for those of us who take our work seriously and many of us often have another stream of income to complement our reading business.

Please respect professional tarot readers enough to NOT ask for freebies. Years of training and great sacrifice has gone into their labour of love. Would you ask your plumber or dentist for a freebie? Didn't think so!

7. Read for children without the consent of a parent or legal guardian. This really is a no-brainer. Some will read for over 16's and others only for over 18's.

8. Promise 100% accuracy. How to spot a charlatan in under two seconds: Reading 'I am 100% accurate.'anywhere in their promo material.

9. Have no refunds policy. While I do know a couple of professional Tarot readers who would not agree with me on this, I believe they are the ones who end up losing clients over it long term. Because nobody is 100% accurate and even Tarot readers have bad days, it is much much better business sense to have a no quibble refund policy in place. It also gives new prospective clients peace of mind as they can try you risk-free.

It is so incredibly rare for me to have to refund anyone that I am more than happy to be offering this policy. All it takes to ruin an online business is one unhappy client with a penchant for writing scathing reviews...

10. Do several consecutive readings on the same topic. This is the second fastest way to spot a charlatan. They feed on desperation and will keep flipping cards for you until you get the answer you want.

A true professional always seeks to empower their clients to be as independent as possible. They will happily turn clients away when they spot a common sense solution to their client's dilemma and share that wisdom free of charge.

The Totem Tarot Spread

$
0
0

Your totem animal is a spirit guide in animal form who is part of your spirit guide entourage for either a period of time (in connection with a specific life lesson) or your entire life (personal power animal). You can have more than one totem/power animal and they can change as you go through different developmental stages in life.

Totem animals resonate with different chakras and highlight both inherent power and weakness of those chakras. When highlighting a weakness, the less desirable traits of the animal comes to the fore. These are the aspects that fill you with fear, shame and even terror... making you project these qualities onto others rather than owning them for yourself. In Jungian psychology this is referred to as the Shadow.

You can also have a family totem animal. In my own family, as an example, all four (my mother, father, sister and I) all have a 3 Life Path Numerology. This corresponds with The Empress (Venus), whose symbol is the White Dove. This is not just intellectual knowledge to me, as we all have had visions of said Dove at different times in our life.

Totem animals sometimes visit in our dreams (as do angels and spirit guides). I have personally found these to be some of the most powerful, meaningful and memorable dreams I have had.

These days, it is quite easy to just Google the meaning of totem animals. However, no matter what they mean in general, you may still not find the exact message they have for you at this point in time... There are a couple of ways of resolving this: you can either keep trying to connect with the spirit animal in your dreams or in meditation until the message becomes clear... OR you can do a Tarot reading on it with the Tarot spread I created specifically for this:

1. Archetype - Chakra Lesson. Use a Major Arcana deck for this or use only the Majors from a full deck. (You can find out which chakra the card you pulled corresponds to HERE and you can learn more about healing the chakras with Tarot HERE.)

For the rest of the spread use a separate deck that contains all Major AND Minor Arcana cards, allowing for repetition of the Major you pulled in position one.

2. Mental concept / awareness. After making sense of the first card, you will instantly recognise how this ties in with the card in the second position as this is something you are already aware of.
3. Subconcious emotional component. This deals with the repressed emotion your totem animal is trying to help you heal.
4. What seeded this lesson. This will show how you dealt with the issue in position number three in the past (either by projection or some kind of destructive behaviour).
5. What resolves this lesson. This is the actual medicine/remedy this animal brings.

SAMPLE READING

1. Archetype - Chakra Lesson. VII The Chariot/Adversity (Cancer). The animal I enquired about is Shark and the theme of the dream was about battling the aggressive attacks of one shark after another under water. Luckily, I had my wooden cutting board to hit them over the nose with (don't you just love the surreal elements of dreams?), so I managed to ward them off...

This relates to the third chakra.

2. Mental concept / awareness. 6 of Pentacles (Moon in Taurus). This is about giving and receiving and the overgiving I did in the past before I learned to guard my personal boundaries (to some extent a work in progress).

3. Subconcious emotional component. VII The Chariot (repeated). This confirms that this is strictly relating to the third chakra and because it is the Yin/Water Element Chariot rather than one of the other two Solar Plexus chakra cards, The Sun or The Tower (Fire/Yang), I know this concerns a pattern of passive aggressive behaviour on my behalf. It has emerged to be permanently healed.

4. What seeded this lesson. The 9 of Swords (Mars in Gemini) here is a card of making things much much worse in my mind than they were in real life.

5. What resolves this lesson. The Hanged Man (Neptune) is both my Shadow card and my personal Year card... This is about surrendering to LOVE and gaining a new perspective. I do not need to take immediate action but I do need to trust my intuitive guidance and to spend time actually 'tuning in'. Again this is a Water Element card for a dream that took place under water... :)

You can use the Totem Tarot Spread for any time you have an animal bring you a message - not just for dream visitations!

Hope you enjoy trying this out and please feel free to share what you learn in the comments below!

Ceccoli Tarot Review and Deck Interview

$
0
0

I'm going to open by stating that the Ceccoli Tarotby artist Nicoletta Ceccoli is NOT a deck for the beginner reader who is still learning traditional meanings and symbology, as I do not wish to waste anybody's time. It is a beautiful and surreal modern deck that is suited to the experienced reader who wishes a bit of whimsy to crack open deeper intuitive/imaginative layers.

Like all Lo Scarabeo Tarot decks, the Ceccoli Tarot comes with a Little White Book with snippet card meanings in five languages: English, Italian, Spanish, French and German. Personally, I never found the LWB helpful but I understand some do. Thankfully, Lo Scarabeo have stopped cluttering the card borders up with card titles in four languages and replaced them with numbers and symbols. This works much better for intuitive readings!

If you are a beginner and feel drawn to working with this deck in spite of my warning, I suggest you approach it the way you would an oracle deck and allow your imagination fly free.

The reversible card backs represent the Fire Element Wands suit in this deck and have a Christmasy feel to them.

1. Who are you?

4 of Pentacles (Sun in Capricorn): I am Princess of the Surreal and I live in castle high above the clouds.

2. What is your strength?

Ten of Wands (Saturn in Sagittarius): I can help you push onward on your journey when you feel drained, stuck and/or running out of creative juice... In my castle, you will always find new doors to open that will get the old cogs turning again!

3. What is your weakness?

Death (Scorpio): Well... I was never any good at comforting people. I like to sleep through the actual process of transformation that I trigger in you. You're on your own there... don't come crying to me! It may seem harsh but it is for your own good and preps you for initiation.

4. What types of readings do you prefer?

Seven of Swords (Moon in Aquarius): Problem-solving, cartography type readings - helping you map uncharted territory but definitely not holding your hand when you set out,

5. How do you challenge me?

Queen of Swords (Libra): I like to poke you in the eye. Nothing is as it seems. Enter my castle and you will understand!

Prisma Visions Tarot Deck Competition + Interview

$

You know that happy feeling when you have great expectations and they are met beyond what you could imagine? The Prisma Visions Tarot deck by James R. Eads is giving me that exact feeling right now. Boy am I glad I ordered two copies! Shared joy is doubled joy so... I am giving my second copy away to one of my lucky readers!

All you have to do to enter the Prisma Visions Tarot competition is to Tweet or share this post on Facebook, G+ or Tsu and comment below. For each social media share, please comment again. The more shares - the bigger your chance of winning this deck. The competition closes on 6 March and the winner will be announced in my newsletter so make sure to sign up today if you have not done so already!

This was a Kickstarter project that quickly got popular (exceeding the goal by about $65,000), enabling several stretch goals along the way, including a print (I got the Ace of Wands) and silver edges to the cards. Yes, we had to wait a bit longer than first anticipated because Mr Eads is a perfectionist but as far as I am concerned that is a good thing and good things do indeed come to those who wait.

Do click to enlarge the image above and look at all the detail that has gone into this production... just WOW! Stunning doesn't begin to cover it.

But enough about facts and figures... Let's let the Prisma Visions deck speak for itself... (sorry about the images below - they do NOT do these cards justice - please see properly rendered images HERE)

DECK INTERVIEW WITH THE PRISMA VISIONS TAROT

1. Who are you?

Queen of Swords (Libra): I am clairvoyance personified. Your gift of clear seeing will greatly increase as you soften your gaze and allow the images to speak.

2. What is your strength?

King of Swords (Gemini): To help you SEE both sides of any situation so that you may make your choices with increased clarity and objectivity.

3. What is your weakness?

2 of Wands (Mars in Aries): If you rely on more feminine modes of communication than the visual, you may struggle with understanding me at first. I may appeal more to left-brained readers.

4. What types of readings do you prefer?

3 of Wands (Sun in Aries): Cutting to the chase, helping the Seeker to branch out and engage actively with reality. Inspiring visionary and leadership qualities. I would make an excellent partner in life purpose and career readings.

5. How do you challenge me?

King of Cups: I challenge you to use your imagination in a slightly different way to what you are used to. You will grow a lot emotionally if you take my advice on board. You will become more balanced and not so easily pulled under.

I was surprised to see two sets of consecutive cards in the Tarot spread above. As you may know, each of the Minor Arcana suit cards link to the next to create a panorama if laid out in a line next to each other. I thought it would be neat to illustrate this effect with the cards from the spread above...

I hope you enjoyed getting to know the Prisma Visions Tarot deck a bit better and good luck if you enter the competition!

The Five Basic Elements of a Holistic Tarot Reading

$
0
0

After the overwhelming interest I had over on my holisticchange.co blog for a free sample holistic Tarot reading, I realised that there is no blog post that fully explains what makes a Tarot reading truly holistic compared to traditional fortune telling. What better place to break it down and explain the elements that need to be present in a holistic reading than here on Tarotize - a site that has been devoted to Holistic Tarot since 2006!

But before we can break it down, we need to understand what a Tarot reading is and why/how it works...

Like all other forms of divination, the Tarot operates on the principles of synchronicity (the simultaneous occurrence of events which appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection) and the magickal axiom'as above, so below'.

In a Universe defined by quantum mechanics, these principles become useful tools in connection with our own intuitive guidance, not only for discerning patterns and trajectories but for actively manifesting our destiny. Based on these principles, it is possible to do both traditional fortune-telling and holistic Tarot readings... so how are they different from each other.

First, we will have a look at the elements that need to be present in a holistic Tarot reading and then I will compare it to fortune-telling for contrast and greater insight...

The following 5 elements have to be present for a Tarot reading to be fully holistic. You will notice that one of these elements is down to the client rather than the Tarot reader:

1. Holistic Tarot readings are a proactive approach to problem resolution
2. Holistic Tarot readings are a responsible use of the Tarot, based in a belief that there are many possible futures and that the guidance given by the cards will present you with the choices that will best align you with your Higher Self
3. Holistic remedies, affirmations and techniques for healing/manifestation are suggested during the course of a Holistic Tarot reading
4. Holistic Tarot readings attracts clients who are seeking 'soul growth guidance'
5. Holistic Tarot readings are done in dialogue with the client so that the best possible question can be asked by the cards and the holistic guidance can be tailor-made to the individual client

Fortune-telling is passive/reactive - Holistic Tarot is active/proactive

While synchronicity is acausal, our lives are not. If you eat junk food day in and day out, you will make yourself ill and if you never leave your house, you will not meet a suitable romantic partner.

Traditional fortune-telling panders to wishful thinking that we ourselves are not responsible/accountable for our destiny and wellbeing but can rely on 'fate' and 'good fortune' to bring us the things we desire.
Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.
~ C.G. Jung
Fortune-telling creates the illusion that the future is set in stone - Holistic Tarot informs you of options and optimal choices for manifesting your desires

The two main problems with giving the client a set trajectory (albeit the most likely one) is that you disempower the client as well as  create karma for yourself as a reader by taking away choice from your client.

Fortune-telling shows you what is likely to happen - Holistic Tarot gives you tools and remedies for changing the outcome for the highest good of all.

Not any Tarot can give Holistic guidance based on the Tarot. It takes in-depth knowledge of the human energy field, understanding of Astrological correspondences and their concomitant anatomical correspondences, as well as knowledge of at least one healing modality.

That is why it is so important for you as a client to do a background check on your prospective Tarot reader.

Fortune-telling is all about the mystery of 'fate' - Holistic Tarot is more interested in absolute clarity than in mystery

Many fortune-tellers do not understand how the Tarot work, just that it works... and to a certain extent it does even when they do not know how to use it for healing. However, the fortune-teller's vibration is lower than that of someone who chooses to use the Tarot for empowerment and healing.

This is why fortune-tellers attract a certain type of clients; those who wish to have the future served up on a silver platter... and Holistic Tarot readers attract the type of clients who know they are responsible for co-creating their own destiny.

Fortune-tellers are not interested in dialogue - Holistic Tarot is all about being in dialogue with the client.

A fortune-teller will often make a big show of the fact that it is not necessary to even ask a question (as if Tarot readers are also mind readers lol).  A Holistic Tarot reader strives to make sure that the best possible question is asked of the cards in terms of efficacious manifestation and that the holistic guidance given is tailor-made to the individual where they are at - mind, body and spirit.

In a Holistic Tarot reading, the question is paramount and should be seen as the client's motivating force for healing or self-improvement. The intent can certainly be to manifest a specific desire such as a loving partner or a dream job, but never without the understanding that the journey there and the soul growth it promotes is just as important as the successful manifestation of said desire.

Which type of reading would you rather have...?

Charlatans, Cards and Curses

$

After writing and tweeting about Holistic Tarot vs Fortune-telling quite a lot recently, I found myself under fire and had to block a couple of Tarot readers who thought it was a good idea to reply with attacks on my person. This is the tweet that drew the fire:

A #Holistic #Tarot reading is like the natural remedy which treats the whole person, compared to the 'plaster' given by a fortune teller. (read the full article HERE)

Some "warlock" and some "young Tarosophist of the year" called me ignorant, envious, divisive and lacking in fortune-telling skills based on this tweet. Whether they know about my work or whether they chose to judge me merely based on this tweet I will (gladly) never know.

All I know is that there are some pretty nasty people within the 'Tarot community' (not so sure it actually IS a community!) who like to judge and bully people... and that doesn't even begin to cover the pure charlatans.

I had to deal with a victim of a Tarot charlatan only this morning - sadly not the first to come my way! She had been told by a 'Tarot reader' that she and her ex husband couldn't get back together because she had been cursed by a third party. However, for a small fee, this 'Tarot reader' would lift the curse.

My advice to anyone who has experienced this form of fraud and 'psychic rape': You have been lied to. Try to forget what they said and do not heed any of the 'advice' handed out. Next time you go for a Tarot reading, make sure that your reader is a Holistic Tarot reader rather than a fortune-teller. Never EVER get a reading from someone who claims to be able to predict the future with 100% accuracy or claims to be able to 'remove curses.'

This should be common sense but common sense seems to be rare enough to be a super power these days:
NOBODY can predict the future with 100% accuracy because guess what... the future isn't set in stone! TWEET THIS
As for removing curses... Instilling fear in a client and then offering to take away that fear for a fee is the oldest trick in the book and have been used across many a trade but seems to survive only in the world of magick and divination because of the superstition that is associated with it. These are the true snakes of the Tarot world and their karmic payback will be massive. Basically, they operate on the principle that if you are that gullible, you have nobody but yourself to blame.

We need to move away from fear and superstition and into the Light. Or we do if we want a Tarot reading to be seen as a respectable holistic alternative to life coaching or any of the many healing modalities and counselling techniques out there.

This inevitably leads us to the next big fear topic: THE BAD CARDS... go on, rattle them off for me:

Death, The Tower, 10 of Swords, 3 of Swords, The Devil, 5 of Cups... the list goes on...
Unless you stop thinking of some of the Tarot cards as 'bad' and others as 'good' you probably shouldn't be reading the cards for anybody. TWEET THIS
ALL cards contain the full spectrum of light and dark and the cards with more challenging images merely reflect unsettled/unresolved matters in the psyche of the Seeker. It is ALL good because it can all lead to holistic change and growth. Where you are, right now, with WHATEVER is going on in your life is OK... so relax. You have challenges ahead, sure... but that is how we all grow. And in the end, love and peace prevail. If you do not believe this, please step away from those cards!

Do you want a reader to catastrophise your existence and extort you? Do you want a reader to present to you a future set in stone? I am pretty sure you didn't answer yes to the first question but a surprising amount of people DO want the future served up on a silver platter. This is because they are afraid of making choices, of making a mess... of being held accountable... and guess what, that's OK too... until we are ready to grow up and begin co-creating our destiny.

What is not OK is to take advantage of someone who is vulnerable in any way. A Tarot reading is not always the best way forward and I often decline to read for people whose expectations of a reading do not mach my reading style. I also refer people on to medical, legal and financial professionals when they are deemed better equipped to deal with the issue at hand.

As a Holistic Tarot reader, I am blessed to be in a position to help clients step away from fear and take a more positive and proactive approach to life and decision-making. I often give out this sort of advice to clients for free before and after a reading.... Does my holistic approach make me less psychic than a Tarot reader who claims to be able to foretell the future? I will let YOU be the judge of that. HERE is a real life holistic Tarot reading I did last week... and there is one more coming up tomorrow.

I would love to hear your thoughts and comments on this!

Mixed Oracle Spread with Tarot Charms, Random Words and an Oracle Card

$
0
0

Ever since I got my beautiful Tarot Charms from the lovely Julie of The Witches Coven, I have been wanting to have a play with them but then a house move got in the way. Now that we have all finally settled in and the kids are back at school, I decided to create a mixed oracle spread to use with these charms.

Like for the Magpie Oracle spread I created over on Seer Pathways, I decided to use a random word generator but this time I decided to allow an oracle card from the Energy Oracle to give the central theme for the reading.

Below you will find a screen print from the random word generator site.

I wrote each of the words on pieces of paper, cut them out, mixed them up and placed them in random order on my reading cloth.

I still had no idea what the reading would be about but as soon as I pulled the Energy Oracle card I knew - It is about my impending foot surgery which will all but immobilise me completely for a month and a half. You will find that the issue the oracle wishes to highlight becomes clear as soon as you make the association between the oracle card and what is happening in your own life.

Next, I mixed the charms up and randomly threw them onto the cloth, keeping only the charm closest to each of the words. For the first word, two charms were stuck together so I kept those and looking at the meaning, it makes perfect sense:

Black - Fool + Hanged Man: I fear this new Fool's adventure which will immobilise me outwardly but may well see me moving forward with leaps and bounds on my inner, spiritual journey.

Foggy - The Chariot: It is unclear to me exactly how much my mobility and ability to work will be affected at this stage.

Bright - The World: I still have the world at my fingertips through my online presence... at least once the worst of the pain after the surgery subsides. I hope to be back to work one week after the surgery. Also, this looks like a bright promise of perfect bone healing to me as The World is connected with Saturn, ruler of Capricorn.

Appeal - The Emperor: I will no doubt be making multiple appeals to my Aries/Emperor partner during my convalescence!

Liberating - The High Priestess: I will have much time for reading, studying and contemplation... and yes, I will find this very liberating! I have piles of books waiting to be read and ideas for new areas of magick to explore... can't wait!

I hope you feel inspired to try this form of mixed oracle reading. I find that it brings deep insights in addition to being lots of fun. Let me know how you go!

Love and Blessings,

~ Lisa

3Tags vs Tsu + A Social Media Comparison Tarot Spread

$
0
0

Social media is right at the hub of what a Tarotpreneur does. Without it I wouldn't still be in business, connecting globally with prospective clients over multiple sites and platforms. In today's post, I will show you how you can use your Tarot cards to make the most of each platform as well as find out which one will give the best return for your time investment, using the example of Tsu and 3tags. Keep scrolling if you want to jump straight to the reading!

As some of you may know, I have put my neck on the line for Tsu as I felt it was the first, real viable option to Facebook. Like many small business owners, Facebook's switch and bait tactics had been putting me off for a while and I was biding my time for an alternative to crop up... when along came Tsu and at the time, it felt a bit like salvation as I was so very eager to escape the clutches of Facebook.

Tsu is in no ways perfect (for instance lacking some of the functionality of FB) but it seemed ideal in many ways and I'm not going to lie to you - the shared ad revenue was a bonus. That said, after 6-7 months I have only accumulated $47 in spite of being active most days and having recruited a whopping 390 children (sic!). For a short while I was averaging around $0.5 a day but now it has gone back to 20-30 cents. By checking Tsu's Alexa ranking, I have come to suspect that new recruitment + the number of actual active users + income from ad revenue has more or less ground to a halt.

Something radical will need to happen for this to turn around... functionality needs to improve massively and a new revamped Tsu has reached beta test stage... which begs the question why Tsu, at this crucial point in time, is implementing censorship and banning of people for mentioning 3tags, another new social media platform which also has shared ad revenue.

3tags has some similarities with Tsu but also enough differences to make it complementary (like Twitter is to FB, for instance) and should not be considered a threat. Tsu's reason for censoring posts that mention 3tags and banning people who post about them is that there is a potential legal dispute brewing over intellectual property right. The only real similarity is the ad revenue payment structure so I'm guessing this is what Tsu claims as intellectual property but I'm no lawyer and I believe anyone is innocent until proven guilty.

I still think that banning people without warning, which is what  in the case of Eleanor Goold, after she posted a 3tags pic, is a rather heavy-handed tactic. Frankly, it is making me uneasy about promoting Tsu in the future.

So far the advantages I have seen from being on 3Tags is better SEO (links show in Google searches). My posts on there started driving traffic to my sites from day one. The posts remain on the platform and can go viral again and again. Less post views are needed to earn the same amount I'm earning on Tsu and, most importantly, there is a lack of censorship. There is also considerably less spam, although that could hit at a later stage as the platform gains momentum (fingers crossed it won't!).

The drawbacks by comparison to Tsu is that you can't follow people... yet, although apparently that feature is being rolled out soon. There is no easy-to-find FAQ which made my head hurt when I first started learning the ropes around there. Apparently 3tags is quite a lot like reddit - one of the few social media platforms I never used.

All in all, I can't say I like one platform over the other and to be fair, Facebook still has the best functionality... but with that you get spied on and in some cases (happened to me!) you have FB take money out of your PayPal account for services not rendered. It is like any relationship I suppose - a compromise... and while I'm pretty rubbish at compromising, I'm slowly learning to do just that; I recently had to rejoin FB in order to join the Just Jhoom! instructor's group on there. Le sigh.

SOCIAL MEDIA COMPARISON TAROT SPREAD + SAMPLE READING

Sample Reading with the Frideborg Tarot spread - Click to enlarge

1. What to be mindful of concerning how I invest my time in these two social media platforms - Justice: Balance your time between both platforms and try to keep the peace
2. Main strength of Tsu - The Magician: A sound structure/logic is in place
3. Main challenge for me on Tsu - 6 of Pentacles: Produce valuable content that makes people happy
4. How I am best off investing my time on tsu - Knight of Pentacles: Perseverance will pay off
5. Main strength of 3tags - 8 of Cups: Spot on as they are gaining more disgruntled Tsu followers every day
6. Main challenge for me on 3tags - 5 of Cups: To persevere emotionally in spite of the slightly disorderly state the site is in
7. How I am best off investing my time on 3tags - Queen of Cups: Don't be afraid to show emotional vulnerability or to be very candid in your posts
8. Financial state of Tsu - 5 of Pentacles: Uh oh
9. Financial future of Tsu - Black Cat: Hmmmm... I foresee an unexpected plot twist and a bit of last minute good fortune here
10. Financial state of 3tags - 5 of Swords: Not enough real capital invested for them to pose any threat whatsoever to Tsu, although probably lots in the pipeline
11. Financial future of 3tags - Ace of Pentacles: A windfall

To summarise: The cards are quite clear that it will be worth my time staying on both platforms as they do have different things to offer. Let me know what the cards tell you if you decide to give this a whirl and if you are looking for Tsu and 3tags invites please click the respective links. It doesn't cost anything to join so feel free to have a nosey around! :)

7 Signs of People with Dragon Medicine & Dragon Pathworking Tarot Spread

$
0
0

Dragon medicine is so powerful that in ancient China, only the Emperor himself was said to embody it fully. This is not true, of course, but in a sense it is true that you cannot be a carrier of this potent medicine and not sooner or later find yourself in a leadership position.

Dragons appear in all cultures and mythologies across the world. In the East they are often considered lucky but in the West, because of the Church's influence, they have been vilified and are seen as demonic forces - even as a representation of Satan himself.

There are many types of dragons and because they are the Masters of Shapeshifting, they may choose to appear in a different shape (even human) and also under an alias, as giving their true name means giving away power.

Essentially, like with any other power/totem animals, you know if you are in possession of dragon medicine if you are strongly drawn to dragons. Only people who are willing to do the things they fear in order to grow their souls, ever actually get to see dragons. Dragons admire courage and are drawn to individuals who are working on developing courage in this life-time. It doesn't mean you have to be fearless but it means you have to do things you fear at times.

Please note: Dragons only help those that help themselves. People with no inner motivation or desire to succeed will never understand dragon medicine, nor will the recognise the quiet power of those in possession of it. Those with Dragon Medicine invariably recognise each other. They may not always get along though!

As you probably suspected, many witches, alchemists and sorcerers are Dragon Medicine carriers.

To connect more strongly with this medicine, you can try any of the following:

* Collect dragon images and figurines.
* Meditate daily, acknowledge your dragon guardian and ask to make contact.
* Incubate a dragon guide dream.
* Wear a dragon necklace.
* Strengthen your third chakra/will centre.
* Challenge yourself to do things that seem scary.
* Allow your desires to guide and focus your Will.
* Allow yourself to be the most powerful version of Self.

I decided to ask my own dragon guardian, using two different tarot decks (Dragon Tarot and Tarot Draconis) what 7 signs Dragon Medicine people have in common and this is what I got:

1. 5 of Wands + 2 of Pentacles. Dragon Medicine individuals are ruled by strong desire, directed by their Will. They often have to learn difficult third chakra lessons with regards to boundaries so that they become stronger and better able to focus their will. They work hard if their work is aligned with their life purpose and they thrive on change. (Dragons are Masters of Change/Transformation)

2. 3 of Swords + 4 of Cups. They feel emotional suffering acutely and sometimes shrink their lives longer than necessary due to a perceived need to wallow in order to heal. Their extreme empathy makes them sensitive to the emotional pain of others too and until they have resolved their third chakra issues, they often perceive the pain of others as their own.

3. 2 of Pentacles + Ace of Wands. Dragon Medicine people like partnerships that infuse their lives with inspiration to succeed in their career aspirations. They are more likely to find a Magickal Partner than to join a coven. In a coven, the person with the strongest Dragon Medicine invariably ends up as the HP.

4. Queen of Swords and 3 of Wands. The aspire to inspire others with wisdom and would rather lead than follow. They can alternate between a cold and a fiery temperament and often choose to take the opposite emotional temperature to the person they argue with - because they can and because to them, it creates balance. Sometimes they appear aloof and sometimes brash. This is to hide their sensitivity and make themselves less vulnerable.

5. 7 of Wands + 8 of Swords. They fight for the truth. Anything less than the absolute truth makes them feel blind and frustrated. This means hours of determined studies and relentless asking of questions to get to the bottom of the matter. They simply refuse to give up until illumination of the matter has been achieved.

6. The Lovers + Justice. It almost goes without saying... but Dragon Medicine people love (nay adore!) dragons and may very well have had previous incarnations as dragon riders, sorcerers or even dragons. It is this love that sooner or later leads them down the Path of Dragon Magick and the tutelage of dragons. Some will have begun their love affair with dragons as children only to return as grown-ups after some kind of spiritual/healing crisis.

Dragons love to enter the stage when we are at 'rock bottom' and have decided to pull ourselves up. In those instances, they quickly become best friends with the Dragon Medicine person.

7. 10 of Swords + The Hermit. They are self-reliant in times of extreme hardship. While they are happy to help others, the rarely expect the same in return. Instead they turn inward to muster the strength needed to resolve the issue/situation and move on. To onlookers, this may at times make them appear as phoenixes rising from the ashes. They do not fear death and 'die' many times in a life time, squeezing more incarnations (and karmic lessons) into one life time than some do over several life times.

The Problem with Reading on the Future

$
0
0
Predicting the future keeps you trapped in the Matrix

Using the Tarot to predict the future is something I have chosen to move away from. It's not that it doesn't work... but when it does work, it works for all the wrong reasons...

The four main dangers with using the Tarot, or any divination tool, to predict the future are:

* You lock the future in based on a projection (your hopes or fears) rather than what IS
* You take away possibility and kill creativity
* You move yourself out of vertical God-self alignment which requires that you are centered in the NOW. This in turn means you are not actually living...
* When the future you predicted does happen, it is staged and a lie. You are asleep and dreaming...

The only reason I would use the Tarot for a future reading is when it concerns a tangible choice and then I would ask only for action advice, along with which opportunities and challenges each of the options are likely to bring so that I can make an informed choice. What I then make of those opportunities and challenges is something I can only decided on when I am am vertically aligned in the NOW or what I create is another lie... i.e. not a true reflection Self and what I am here to do.

Asking this way makes any outcome possible; It is very important to not use an outcome position for the future...This is the real soul killer.

The best possible use for the Tarot is for aligning mind, body and spirit - a form of yoga of the mind - that allows for pulling all the scattered energy in so that the breath of Spirit can be free and flow with full force through your existence

You get a sense of this focus in The Chariot card for instance, which is the reason this card is associated with success and victory. Numerologically, this card is the heavenly 7 - the bridge between the mundane and celestial realms. Astrologically, it is Cancer (ruled by the Moon). However, at the apex of this card's energy, this is lunar energy pulled into the solar center, the third chakra, and channelled by Higher Will. There is no fear motivation or the kind of doubts that are born through comparison. Both horses pull the same direction because the charioteer is vertically aligned in the NOW.

Interestingly, the two other Major Arcana cards associated with the Moon (ruler of psychic energy) are The High Priestess and Piscean Moon Card. The former can indicate choice, doubt, mystery and vascillation  by the number 2 numerological correspondence, and the latter is often associated with fear, delusion and addiction. The psychic realm can, as we all know, provide us with the murky waters of the charlatans of divination - those who prey on the doubts and fears of their fellow men.

This tells me we need the balance of Solar and Lunar energy seen in the Chariot in order to stay balanced and centered in the NOW. Fortune-telling precludes common sense and creates a disconnect between both what IS and your rational faculties. Divination aligns you with Self and allows you to make the most of the opportunities at hand.

Take a moment to listen to OSHO speak about the now...

Wishing you a life filled with golden moments!

Brightest Blessings,

Timing in the Tarot with FREE Cheat Sheets!

Timing in the Tarot is a topic that warrants a book of its own rather than just a blog post but I wanted to give you an inkling of how I work with timing, which obviously is not the same as everybody else. It is a method which has been used by Western Mysticists and Occultists over the past 100+ years and that has its origin with the Order of the Golden Dawn (plus some of my own additions). This Astrological correspondence method of timing is the one I have found works the best but it is also very important to know when it is possible to read on timing and when it is best left alone.

The discussion we need to have before delving into the correspondence tables is'How much of the future is set in stone and is it even possible to predict timing at all?'

Obviously how you choose to read (or not read) on timing questions depends entirely on how you answer this question. Personally, I believe that very little is set in stone and I hold fast to the old occult saying: 'Spell long, divine short.'

However, in certain scenarios, all the influences have been set in motion and are on a pretty firm trajectory. This is much like a cloud formation that can be forecast to yield precipitation at a later point in time - all the signs are there to the trained eye. These are the scenarios when the cards can be used to nail the timing with in error margin of a week and half either way if we choose to work with the system of Astrological decans in the Minor Arcana.

Below you will find three cheat sheets with Astrological Timing Correspondences for the Major Arcana, the Minor Arcana and the Court Cards. Simply click to enlarge and print out for your Tarot Study Journal or Book of Shadows!

Another way of reading on timing that I use quite a lot is to set a time frame for the Tarot spread of choice. Near future (6-8 weeks) works best; the further you project, the greater the error margin becomes.  Typically, I do this for romance forecasts, where I look at the next couple of months and a maximum of six months.

If you found the information in this post worth your time, please share with friends and on your social media networks. Thank you!

Love and Blessings,

Lisa

Deck Interview with the Dame Darcy Mermaid Tarot

The Mermaid Tarot came with a lovely thank you note that included two bonus recipes... NICE!

Dame Darcy's Mermaid Tarot finally arrived today! I'm SUPER EXCITED and so pleased it arrived in time for today's blog post... AND on a bright sunny day so I could do a reading outdoors and show off these gorgeous cards in full sunlight!

There is no LWB included but you can download a PDF guide... I must admit that haven't gone to the website to download the 'Guide to Using the Tarot' yet. Looking through the deck, I realised I wouldn't need to - the imagery follows the standard RWS tradition and is easy enough to read with even for beginners. That said, you never know what interesting bits of information you may come across in the musings of another Tarotist, so it might be worth checking out at some poing when I have more time to spare. Also, it might include some information about her choice to make a mermaid themed deck...

The backs are reversible for those of you who like to include reversals in your readings. The card stock is smooth and of good quality. The cards shuffle really well. Although the print quality is fine, some people may get hung up on the fact that not all borders are the same size. I believe the almost borderless Fool in the image of some Majors and the Ace of Cups (my favourite card in any deck) gives you the idea. However, for me it just adds to the charm of this deck and it really fits with the Fool card energy... You almost get a feeling of the laughing Fool mermaid wanting to burst out of the card!

How ADORABLE are these cards?!?!

I must admit that I am not a big fan of the organza bag to keep the cards in - they tend to tear quite easily but I consider it temporary storage and it will definitely do for starters. I imagine this deck living in a turqoise velvet bag with gold and pearl embroidery. If anyone wants to send me a bag like that through the post to store my Mermaid Tarot in, I certainly won't object! :D

So... Let's see what the Spirit of the Mermaid Tarot has to say about herself... because this is most definitely a SHE!

DECK INTERVIEW WITH THE MERMAID TAROT

1. Who are you?

PAGE OF PENTACLES (Earth): I am a perpetual student and dedicated to exploring emotions in-depth.

2. What is your strength?

2 of Pentacles (Jupiter in Capricorn): I can help you stay grounded and relieve your stress so that you are free to make choices that move you forward here on Earth. I adapt easily, no matter what your mood is.

3. What is your weakness?

3 of Cups (Mercury in Cancer): Well, I am rather watery... but you knew that already. It's not that I can't stay grounded or that I don't care about other stuff... but I do prefer to talk about emotions above pretty much anything else... So you may want to use another deck for reading about career choices or health matters.

4. What types of readings do you prefer?

8 of Cups (Saturn in Pisces): Overcoming limitations to a sense of Oneness. Helping you move forward from situations that drag you down emotionally.

5. How do you challenge me?

8 of Wands (Mercury in Sagittarius): You need to slow down enough to allow your body to adjust to the temperature of the water... Oh, and it's no good if you can't have a giggle with me!

Yep, spot on! Thank you very much Dame Darcy and the Mermaids - I will enjoy working with you again very soon.
