The Hone Your Craft Tarot Spread

$
0
0

Happy Equinox, everyone! We're having a rainy Ostara here in North Yorkshire, so I decided to celebrate with a little Tarot Ritual indoors rather than venturing outside.

Since connecting with the realm of the Fae last week, my yearning to work with them is growing ever stronger and was intensified by a dream about Melek Taus (aka Dian-y-Glas, the Peacock Angel, Lucifer etc).

I'm at a crossroads and feel read to commit myself to a particular Path of Witchcraft, as well as to start honing my Craft which, to be fair, could be called dabbling up to this point as I have done what so many Neo-Pagans do these days, i.e. cherry picked and not really committed myself to any particular Path or Deity. But I think it's right to not commit until the Path itself draws you in. The Path should choose you, not the other way around...

The spread below, Hone Your Craft, was created to help me understand where I'm at and create more focus as I move ahead. I felt drawn to work with the Thoth Tarot and the Wild Wisdom of the Faery Oracle.

The card at the top, Catch Me, speaks of new beginnings and taking a leap of faith - so very apt for Ostara and for what I yearn to do right now. It's about honouring one's intuition and taking a risk... or what appears to be a risk to those observing from the outside.

In the top row and bottom rows, the first card shows me my strength, the second my weakness and the third card (from the Faery deck) shows me what I can do to stay on course.

The focus for the top row is theory and the focus for the bottom row is practice of the Craft.

Essentially, I'm being shown here by the Thoth Tarot that my forte is my passion and the speed at which I'm able to learn new material (8 of Wands and Ace of Wands). My weakness when it comes to theory is a tendency to jump to conclusions (Prince of Swords). There is a need to really start (over) right at the beginning (two Aces in bottom row) when it comes to the practice - much because I'm finally on an actual (invisible) Path!

Crystal Magic is about the dance as much as it is about crystals apparently, according to the companion book. I need to keep listening to the music of the spheres to avoid a rigid and unyielding mindset.

Gossamer Princess covers both the relationship work I'm meant to do and the process of initiation I'm currently undergoing.

Let me know how you go if you decide to give this spread a whirl. Feel free to use any decks that are calling to you!

22 Keys to Healing - Temperance/Art

$
0
0
Temperance from the Arcturian Tarot

Art is the stored honey of the human soul, gathered on wings of misery and travail.
 ~Theodore Dreiser

Temperance is also known as Art in some decks. Art is the perfect metaphor for Temperance as it combines the concept of the artistic vision of the Fire Element with the artistic/lyrical expression of the Water Element. Together, in perfect balance, these two blend to create a rainbow of healing colours than can be seen, sensed or heard - depending on the choice of artistic expression.

In Astrology, it corresponds with the visionary Sagittarian energies and is often seen as the healing card in the deck. Temperance/Art is an energy which elevates the spirit of a person and like all the heart chakra cards, it enables healing on every level of our being.

Psychically, the Temperance card corresponds to claircognizance (clear knowing).

Like the Hierophant, the other 5 vibration Major Arcana card, this card is connected with the teaching space but rather than a transmission of tradition as in the case of the Hierophant, the Angel of Temperance instructs us in how to expand our own vision of creativity, free from the limitations of history and tradition. New frontiers are to be conquered... but to do so, we need to learn where our own frontiers are and to not fall into the trap of excess.

Where others are concerned, Temperance can indicate a healing influence, as well as someone who is supportive of, or even facilitates an expansion of, our vision. However, when ill-dignified or reversed, animosity is indicated.

Correspondences

Element: Fire
Zodiac sign: Sagittarius
Chakra: Heart Chakra
Colour: Red, crimson, purple, gold, indigo, violet
Crystal: Golden topaz, sapphire, amethyst and diamond
Metal: Tin
Body: Pituitary gland, liver, hips, pelvis, sciatic nerve, gall bladder, hamstrings
Exercise: Archery, the splits
Stance: Anjaneyasana (low lunge)
Magickal Tool/Ingredient: Your own BoS - the more artistic, the better!
Associated Major Arcana Cards (through numerology): The Hierophant

Associated Minor Arcana Cards:

8 of Wands (Mercury in Sagittarius). Healing comes through prompt and frank expression of your own truth.
9 of Wands (Moon in Sagittarius). Healing comes from staying within your boundaries, alert to what is happening at the 'borders'/'frontiers'
10 of Wands (Saturn in Sagittarius). Healing is no longer a choice/option but has to happen because the old is being burnt away. Attitude is more important than ever and the attitude that is needed is one of pure determination: "Life is tough but I am tougher."
King of Wands - The Sagittarian King (Fire of Fire) is the Baby Jesus and the Risen King all rolled into one, i.e. pure Spirit in human form. If anyone can inspire miracles it is he, because his vision takes him far beyond the reaches of known frontiers, traditions and what is expected of him. Mind you, I'm not saying he is Jesus - I'm saying he has the power to inspire on that level. So catch yourself on fire with the excitement brought by the power of a vision that will take you so far outside your comfort zone that you won't even know where you landed until weeks after touch down. If this King had a motto, it would be:
“Risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.” ~ Leo Buscaglia (Sagittarius Rising)

Remedies - to increase the energy of Temperance in your life:

  • You can make a tarot essence to harness and increase the energy of the Temperance card, using a card from the deck of your choice, along with any of the crystals above that you feel drawn to work with. There is plenty of information on the healing properties for each of the crystals available online
  • Lie down and place this card on your heart chakra. Visualise gold light entering through your right foot and silver light through the left. These two lights spiral up your spine and mingle perfectly in your heart, where they form a perfect shimmering sphere of gold and silver light. Now think of an area in your life that needs healing or energising and send the ball there to create the needed miracle.
  • Inspire someone to achieve their dreams
  • Study philosophy
  • Study alchemy
  • Travel somewhere new
  • Make a list of the areas in your life where you have a tendency to go overboard
  • Burn some cinnamon incense
  • Light a candle to Archangel Sachiel on a Thursday and ask him to bless you with wisdom
  • Stop any intake of toxic/addictive substances that may affect the hepatic system (liver) - especially alcohol
  • Always say what's on your mind and speak your truth
  • Be a guru or life coach

Balancing, grounding and banishing the influence of the Temperance card:

  • Entertain an idea you resonate with and then move to the opposite idea, as if it were a deeply held belief of your own
  • Make peace with someone you don't see eye to eye with
  • Learn/practice something purely because it is traditional
  • Merge with another person emotionally
  • Get drunk (I don't actually recommend this but it is a quick way of banishing the influence of Temperance, as most of you will have experienced once or twice)
  • Babysit (not drunk!)
  • Do something only for the money and not because it's 'right'
  • Become a disciple

Affirmation: "I'm on fire with the excitement of my own vision and wherever it takes me, I go with complete faith."

Deck Interview with the Tarot of the Hidden Realm

Tarot of the Hidden Realm with art by Julia Jeffrey

For those of you who are new to the concept of Tarot deck interviews, let me offer this brief explanation: Each deck, being a work of art as well as a labour of love, has been infused with the spirit essences of the Muses who inspired this deck. These essences gave birth to a new entity: the Guardian Spirit of the Deck. In a deck interview, I give this Guardian a voice.

I must admit that when I first looked at sample images of the Tarot of the Hidden Realm, I wondered if it would be readable at all. Most of the deck images were just close-ups of people's faces. This is definitely NOT a Rider Waite clone!

When the deck arrived, I eagerly unwrapped it and started looking through the images. They were so pretty! I crossed my toes and fingers, held my breath and laid the cards out for my first ever reading... Phew! They read like a dream!

I have really been looking forward to learning more from the Guardian of this deck herself, so let's not delay the interview further!

1. Describe yourself in three words or less - Justice (Libra)

THR: Fair, sociable and charming. Sorry for the latter - it sounds like I'm blowing my own horn but it's good do know one's strengths... yes?

Me: Certainly! And I'm sure you've been told how charming you are plenty of times!

THR: *winks*

2. How would your best friend describe you using only three words? - Ace of Sword (Root of the Power of Air)

THR: Makes me think

Me: And see things in a new light?

THR: Or a new dark. Upside down even. *giggles* I've been told those thoughts often lead to a greater ability to stick to one's guns because it becomes easier to accept a new or unconventional approach, which is often necessary when it comes to problem resolution. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but problem resolution is what people seek from the Tarot, yes?

Me: I'm just fascinated to see the Heron here... One of my main Spirit animals and certainly a source of personal courage to me. I always get a feeling that it's OK to be a bit weird when I see a Heron. Or eccentric, as the British like to call it.

3. What gift do you bring?  - 10 of Pentacles (Mercury in Virgo)

THR: The ability to create a lasting legacy by encouraging you to use your imagination. That novel you always wanted to write... Use these cards for brain storming!

Me: I certainly will... Thank you!

4. What do you expect in return?  - 3 of Swords (Saturn in Libra)

THR: To not shy away from pain and heart-ache but to face it head on. Learn to love the thorns as well as the roses.

5. How can you help me serve? - Shadowdance, trad. The Devil (Capricorn)

THR: By helping you release any limiting thoughts and beliefs so that you can begin living the life of creative bliss and sexual ecstasy you always longed for. Owning and embracing your shadows, you can finally move forward in a way that inspires and liberates others.

Me: This doesn't have anything to do with that dream I had the other week, does it?

THR: You know it does!

6. Is there anything else you would like to tell me about yourself? - Ace of Wands (Root of the Power of Fire)

THR: I will never cease to inspire you or ignite the flame of creativity. You can count on me like a box of safety matches!

Me: Thank you, Tarot of the Hidden Realm. This has been a most enlightening interview. I shall look forward to working with you and I'd like to add that the client readings I've done already under your guardianship have been very insightful!

PS. This deck comes as a kit with a companion book by Barbara Moore. I have not yet had a chance to dive into the book but the snippets I've read so far look promising. There are a few spreads included as well, which I will have to try out. Two of them are about 'What is hidden' - apt as this deck is about the hidden realm of the Fae!

The Misfit Tarot Spread

$

“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
― Apple Inc.

No, I'm not a 'modern woman.' I'm not normal. In fact, I have an abhorrence for the word normal because it strives to define something that most certainly does not exist. I have often been made to feel like a misfit. Perhaps you have too.

I created the little spread below for you and I, to help shed light on our soul essence and be proud owners of our power. The issue is the round hole and the card represents how you are being a square peg. The spread is self-explanatory. Feel free to make your own 'holes.'

SAMPLE READING

Follow and obey authority:The Hanged Man - Sacrifice in the form of service to humanity. Neptune. Higher ideals rule rather than prosaic morals. Perhaps I'm doing penance. All I know is that I cannot be me without being a rebel and seeing things from a totally different angle than almost everyone else. My Mars is in Pisces. My warrior essence is in the watery realm of Neptunian Priestesshood.

Be a modern woman and be OK with the patriarchal terms of relating:The Devil - Oh, hell no! The dream I had about the devil awakened me to my power and made me realise that I do not have to accept these terms at all now that I remember who I am.

I'm no longer caught in the exclusivity trap and no longer for settling for anything less than stellar romance with bells on it. In other words, put a ring on it or move on. The man my heart belongs to is at the very least as brave as I am. I'm so done with mummy's boys, bullies and moochers. Also, I find that now that my brain is being rewired by the Fae, my taste in men is changing...

Yes please.
Use already existing models for problem resolution:4 of Swords - It may look like I'm doing nothing at all... I might appear to be day dreaming... but my mind is travelling to the farthest reaches of the cosmos and beyond. I'm doing it for all of humanity... to bring in positive change but I'm doing it quietly and through my writing. Lest we forget... "The pen is mightier than the sword."

Have a socially acceptable career and stay put:3 of Wands - The soul of a pioneer. I'm always looking for the newest, shiniest thing to inspire me. I'm not here to maintain structures. Yes, I'm a Capricorn but my Sun is in the 8th House - I'm all about transformation, baby!

My way of navigating offends and tantalises. I knock down your excuses for not following your own dream by just being. I'm frank and succinct. My eyes often say more than my words. I will never waste my energy on anything which does not completely set me on fire. My career is my calling. My calling is my career and the path will always continue to change direction.

The Three Souls - A Feri Tarot Spread

Psychic Tarot Oracle

After writing about the Fetch yesterday on Seer Pathways, I realised it might be interesting to use the cards as a mirror for the state of my Three Souls. For this purpose, I decided on a simple 5 card cross layout, with the Three Souls in the central column. To the left is the most recent lesson and to the right is the upcoming lesson.

The deck I used, The Psychic Tarot Oracle, is not a traditional Tarot deck. It excludes the Tarot Court cards and has 7 chakra cards instead. I find it very useful for readings on the energy field and spiritual development.

I used another deck that I also find useful for this type of readings, the Energy Oracle Cards, to gain additional insights into the upcoming lesson:

To me, this is a sign of positive emotional withdrawal to integrate recent progress on all levels of being. I recently began to express my true self more fully as shown by the Throat Chakra card and this inevitably lead to a growth spurt.

How are your Three Souls doing?

Love & Blessings,

Why I Prefer Question-Based Tarot Readings

$

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
― C.G. Jung

I'm posting this image of the Waite Smith Magician as a symbol for why I no longer offer general, predictive readings. As of this month, I have chosen to offer only question-based readings and am happy to help you formulate the right question that will best help move you forward in the direction of your desire.
“Men go to far greater lengths to avoid what they fear than to obtain what they desire.”
― Dan Brown
Remember that you are the creator of your own destiny and that what you think today, you live tomorrow. If you desire change, you need to start thinking new thoughts or 'fate' will keep bringing you the latest version of the same life-themes you have been playing on repeat for years and years.

Yes, there are forces you cannot control and events not instigated by you will still occur in your life but you can always control what you choose to do about it as well as how you move forward. I make the following distinction between divination (which is what I prefer to do) and fortune-telling:

Divination is the act of aligning yourself with your God-self through oracular means; Fortune-telling is the act of forecasting future events based on current trends, mostly set in motion by unconscious thoughts.

Very little in life is fated... unless you THINK most things are fated... So let's use the Tarot as a tool for conscious self-development and self-realisation!

Faery Blessings,

Asking the Tarot If the Ouija Board Is Safe to Use

$
0
0

Like many a teenager, I dabbled briefly with a Ouija board that my friend and I made ourselves out of a large thick, white sheet of paper. We were 15. My friend used an invocation that definitely seemed to have done the job because in addition to feeling the presence of a spirit, the glass we used seemed to move over the paper board on its own -- both of us only touching the glass lightly with the tips of our fingers.

We had not tried to contact any dead people; we just wanted to ask some questions and we had no idea what the nature of the spirit we had invited was but it felt dark. My friend left and I stored the home made board in my closet... I continued to feel the presence of the spirit throughout the night and wasn't able to go to sleep until I had gotten up and torn the board up.

As you can imagine, I resolved then and there to never dabble with a talking board again. Several similar stories have been brought to my attention through the years and the general consensus in the spiritual community seems to be that it is a tool best left alone.

However, the odd person reports using it with good results and no ill effects, so I'm curious to see what the Tarot has to say about the usage of the ouija board.

The first question I asked was what the Tarot (as a tool for connecting with my God-self) has to say about the usage of the Ouija board for contacting spirits who have passed over:

Tarot of the Hidden Realm and Les Vampires

What I'm getting from this combination of Tarot cards (Page of Pentcles+10 of Swords+Shadowdancer/The Devil), is that the kind of spirits that sneak through are young, impish and eager to connect with the physical realm in order to play tricks on people. In other words, the 'person' you are speaking to is not a person at all - it's a djinn.

I take the Outsider card from Les Vampires here to simply means that it is a spirit which does not belong and should not be allowed in. Also, the 10 of Swords here is a strong warning to not go there as it will mess with your mind.

Hmmmm... OK but what about using the Ouija board for connecting with one's Guardian Angel (or spirit guides), blessing the board to serve only Light and Love?

This combination of cards (Page of Cups+5 of Swords+The Hanged Man), I could see going either way and you would have to wage constant battle with the ego in order to avoid self-deception and delusion.

I find the Les Vampires Resurrection card here interesting because it contrasts quite strongly with the Tarot cards. It offers the advice to take charge of your life and to swiftly create the changes you need to make in order to move forward - a card of Fire and Action.

Perhaps best not to be passive and leave one's fate in the hands of spirits which may or may not be the real deal? I do tend to err on the side of caution and will continue to do so as far as the Ouija board is concerned.

What's your experience of this tool for spirit communication? I would love to hear from you!

A Beltane Ouija Experiment

$

0

After chatting to people here on the blog who use the ouija / spirit board with good result and no ill effect, I decided to go a head and order the lovely wooden board in the picture above. It's made in Scotland and has a nice, solid feel to it. I really like the clean look too.

I ordered it on eBay on Tuesday and it arrived the next day but I had to go and collect it at the post office this morning as I have a knack for being out when the postman comes around.

After I collected it, I thought "What better day to take it for a whirl than on Beltane?" The veil is thinner than usual this time of year, so surely any spirit wanting contact would manage to get through.

However, I think I was probably in the wrong head space to start with - not with regards to fear (big no-no as it attracts evil spirits) but doubt. I wasn't really feeling receptive and I kept thinking "I bet I'll just move the planchette myself." Then as soon as I did start to feel the slightest tug, I got all tense. Meh.

This totally reminded me of starting to learn how to dowse. I kept second-guessing myself. My sister was a total natural right from the start with the pendulum. I guess we all have different skills and preferences.

Maybe it's just not for me or maybe I need to try the board in the company of another person. It's quite possible that my mind was too preoccupied today still, after last night's happy engagement celebration.

At least there is no lingering spirit present after this brief failed experiment. I followed the psychic protection suggestions in the accompanying leaflet carefully and quite like the prayer for opening and closing the board.

Basically, you pray to the Great Spirit, invoke the Guardians of the Four Quarters and call for the assistance of Mother Earth. You surround yourself with white light and then you call on any spirit guides to step forward.

Another suggestion in the leaflet was to write down your questions beforehand, which I did, but I never got as far as asking them during this failed experiment. That said, I'd rather fail at this end of the spectrum than by having a horde of unwelcome spirits in my home :P

I'll try again and if I ever do succeed, I will certainly blog about it again. In the meantime, if anyone has any ideas of how to correct what went wrong here, I'd love to hear from you!

Love & Blessings,

Nearly a Certified Realm Reader!

$

Coming Soon!

I've just completed the Certified Realm Readings course with Doreen Virtue and am waiting to get my test results and the certificate sent through. In the meantime I am offering practice readings on my G+ page. Sorry anyone I didn't get around to today but I will offer these again and maybe start later next time so my American friends have a chance ;)

Certified Realm Readings will be offered for Lightworkers and Magickal Folk over at SeerPathways.com as soon as I get my certification through. They can help you tune into and align more deeply with your Life Purpose as well as help you understand your relationship patterns better.

For those of you wonder what realm I am, the realm I could identify with completely without objections was Mystic Angel Star. However, since early this year I have been on a Faery Path and I also relate strongly to the Cherub Realm (passionate about Love Tarot Readings!), minus the urge to shop or the propensity for putting on weight. I suspect strongly that I am a Shapeshifter.

Not only have I had visitations of creatures from all realms all my life but people also comment on the fact that I look differentevery time they see me. Most commonly, people associate me with the Star Realm - the first to do so were my own parents and I had a psychic tell me that I was not even from this Universe originally. That actually resonated - even after 600+ incarnations on Earth (a few of which I have memories from), I still don't feel that this is home!

I want to find a way of tying the Realm Readings in with my Tarot readings and wanted to see what advice the Tarot has to offer on this. I thought it would be appropriate to use one of Doreen's decks, The Archangel Power Tarot, for this.

The fact that three out of four cards are Majors is a great sign that I'm meant to blend these modalities and that they will dovetail beautifully. I'm really excited about this as the mini Realm practice readings have provided positive feedback and I was told they were helpful. I feel that the Realm Reading would provide a great Starting point (Leap of Faith/The Fool) and that the challenge with the cards would be to give the information more organisation/structure (Emperor).

The Nine of Ariel (Pentacles/Earth) is the advice card which is definitely about using this as another tool in my self-employment kit. And look, there is Doreen on her Unicorn - makes me smile every time.

The outcome is represented by Justice. I feel that people who receive a Realm Reading will instantly feel more aligned and balanced. I look forward to reading for you... yes YOU! :)

The Positive Co-Parenting Tarot Spread

$

My ex husband and I co-parent my youngest daughter in a friendly manner. We never speak ill of each other and our daughter know that we both respect each other and work together so that everyone will be happy. To me this is the only way to be: a child should never have to suffer because the parents couldn't work things out in terms of staying together.

We are often horrified when we hear of all the drama children are dragged through by parents who are trying to get one up on each other and who even use the children as pawns in their own nasty little dramas. I'm not saying our model of co-parenting is perfect and I know there is room for improvement on my part as I tend to let my ex be the disciplinarian when we should share equally and enforce the same rules in both homes.

I started thinking about this and wondered if there were perhaps other things about my co-parenting skills I could improve so I went looking for information online. I found a really good article on psychology.com that covers the Do's and Dont's of Co-Parenting. I thought the 10 Do's would make for a really good Tarot Spread to see where this room for improvement and what action(s) I could take:

1. Challenges to keeping an open dialogue with your ex (a really positive communication card here would indicate the absence of any challenges)
2. What you need to know about your own consistency in enforcing rules and how to improve it
3. What your words tell your children about your respect for your ex as a human being and parent
4. What you need to know about your own boundaries and how they harmonise with your ex's to give your child a sense of security and knowing what to expect
5. How to improve and agree on involvement of extended family members from both sides of the family while the child is with the other parent
6. How co-parenting challenges you and how you may need to compromise your own parenting style for the sake of your child
7. A way your child may be testing you/acting out to see if boundaries will be enforced
8. Are you trying to always be the 'fun parent' to make up for not spending as much time together with your child? This card is a suggestion to bring balance for the parent who is less of a disciplinarian than the other.
9. Is there a change in your life you need to talk to your ex about for the sake of your child? This card is a reminder about an update you've postponed.
10. A positive quality about your ex you can highlight to your child.

Please let me know if you try this Tarot spread for yourself. Did you find it helpful? What came up for you? What do you feel is your main challenge in happy co-parenting?

Sometimes it is out of our control. If you are trying to co-parent with someone who is bitter and taking it out on you via your child/ren, you have my sympathy and God bless and keep your little one(s).

The Tarot on the 11:11 Awakening Code

$
0
0

I've lost count of the number of people who have spoken to me about noticing the number 11:11 more lately. It all started a few years ago and I didn't know what to make of it so I put it to the back of my mind. However, in the last month or two, the occurrence of this number has increased in my own life and when one of my readers requested a post on this topic, I saw it as synchronicity... Time to find out what all the fuss is about!

Reading about 11:11 online, the most common notion is that people are starting to see this number as humanity awakens from its 3D slumber and becomes aware of the reality of Oneness (all beings are One).

However, there are as many theories about the precise meaning of this number sequence as there are spiritual teachers so the only thing I'm 100% of certain of is that it does mean something and logic dictates that it has to do with new beginnings as well as an Aquarian awakening. The 11th House of the Zodiac is the House of Aquarius and we are at the threshold of the Age of Aquarius which will last for approximately 2,000 years. Let's hope and pray that humanity will mature from its greed and collective insanity during this period!

In the Tarot, the Aces are the 1's and it seems to me that this could be a sign posts that all four Elements are lining up, presenting the beholder with an opportunity to start the next phase/chapter of their life. It's a sign and a gift from the Universe, letting you know that somebody is guiding you along your path and even lending a helping hand.

11 is the number of the Lightworker and some mean that 11:11 is the calling card of Earth Angels who are here to help people raise their vibration.

Those of you who are younger or who have teenage children are probably aware that many kids these days use the occurrence of 11:11 for wish manifesting. I'm sure it works too, provided the belief is strong enough!

Ascension teachers tend to associate 11:11 with DNA activation, while Angel people say it means your angels or spirit guides are trying to get your attention because new beginnings lie ahead.

People mainly concerned with finding their Twin Flame usually associate the number with Twin Flames.

So what does it mean then? Whatever it means to you is right. There is no universal right or wrong interpretation of this number sequence. The question this leads me to ask of the Tarot is why this has become a global phenomenon.

The first thing I notice here is that the card numbers add up to 11, with the Lovers being the sixth Major Arcana card. I associate both the Ace of Chalices (Cups) and The Lovers with the Heart Chakra and the Four of Chalices shows a young woman stargazing with her hands over her hearts. I think the message is clear:

In most people's hearts there is a longing for more connected living. We have all become alienated through industrialism, greed and gadgets... This is why more and more people are opening up to a new way of being and relating and there is no better symbol for this than 11:11. The phenomenon is an expression of a deep longing for more LOVE

Because let's face it, those in the process of ascending aren't doing so because they are brain boxes - they are doing it because they have the courage to keep their HEARTS open!

The other question I need an answer to is what it means to me, personally. Perhaps you would like to pull a card (or more) on this too?

What I take these three cards to mean is that whenever I see the number 11:11 for myself, I'm supported on my Path of Service and I should pay close attention to my thought. These three cards total 9, the number of the Hermit. He is a teacher. I'm guessing I'm being activated for doing what he does.

If you pull some cards, you will be a doll and share, won't you?! :) Mwah!

The Alpha Power Tarot Spread

Do you have an unusual ability or power?

If you know that you are different and that you have certain powers or abilities that are not considered normal, chances are you are the next step in human evolution. This concept was explored in a TV series called Alphas a few years ago and while it is fiction, there is also a lot of truth to it.

Neurodiversity is a concept that first surfaced in connection with autistic spectrum'disorders' when the autistic community started to fight back against pathological labelling. It is now being used for other 'disorders' but the truth is that a lot of these so called disorders are just part of the next step of the human evolution. As human DNA starts changing, evolving and adapting, the occurrence of atypical neurological patterns will increase rapidly.

Check Are You an Alpha? for 10 Signs that you might be one!

I have created a Tarot Spread to help you own, celebrate and hone your ability, as well as to use it to align you more deeply with your Life Purpose.

1. Your Alpha Power - What you need to know about it right now (if you have more than one, choose one to focus on for each reading you do)
2. Challenge - Your current most pressing challenge with regards to this power. If a court card shows up here, it could indicate that someone around you is attempting to block or belittle you.
3. Spirit Guidance - What advice your spirit guides have for you about your current challenge.
4. Shadow Aspect - This is your life long challenge that comes with your special power. It represents how you project your hopes and fears onto others. This card is a mirror for the deepest, darkest corner of your soul.
5. Life Mission - This card shows you how your Alpha Power ties in with your Life Purpose.
6. Action - This is the best course of action for now. Read this card together with the Spirit Guidance card.

Magick Working Tarot Spread

Tarot Magick Spell Reading Chant

Cards of power, cards of light
Guide me true and guide me right
May this working be correct and just
Show me the truth in perfect trust!

It is always a good idea to check the cards before you go ahead and cast a spell. The spread above will give you some clues if you should or shouldn't, as well as what you can do to raise/channel energy and what the outcome might be.

Before you you start laying the cards out, you need to separate the cards into Majors and Minors. The reason is that for the first position you use a Major Arcana card and for the second position a Minor Arcana card. For the following three cards, you mix all 78 cards together before laying them out.

It is very important to be grounded, centred and in state of relaxed receptive consciousness (alpha) when you do a reading like this. Begin by lighting a candle and reciting the spell at the top of the page slowly three times. Focus on relaxing more deeply each time you read the words. If shuffling the cards helps you relax too, by all means shuffle while you chant the spell.

The Major Arcana card in position one basically tells you whether or not to go ahead...

The Fool - yes and there is unlimited potential if you act in trust
The Magician - yes and you need to put your skills to good use in the process
The High Priestess - yes and you need to cast the spell by the light of the Moon
The Empress - yes and you should cast the spell in Nature
The Emperor - no, this needs a pragmatic, non-magickal solution
The Hierophant - no, this needs a more conventional solution
The Lovers - yes and think carefully about your words
The Chariot - green light but be sure to leave your ego out of it
Strength - yes and more energy will be available through sex magick
The Hermit - no, you need to meditate some more on this first
The Wheel of Fortune - yes, now is the right time to act and there is a lot of energy available
Justice - yes, as long as there are no legal consequences
The Hanged Man - no, there is a need for clarity or a new perspective on things first. forget about it for now
Death - yes, deep transformation is possible now
Temperance - go ahead but make sure that you don't overreach. be very precise and don't bite off more than you can chew
The Devil - no, you are not in tune with the Highest Good for All
The Tower - no, the Universe will throw spanners in the works
The Star - yes absolutely, you are doing humanity a service
The Moon - only if you are free of fear. Sleep on it one more night and allow your dream to guide you which course to take.
The Sun - yes, you are strong and there is a lot of energy available for this working
Judgement - yes but beware that you will not be able to go back to how things were
The World - yes, you were born to do this!

The Minor Arcna card in position two tells you which medium to use/charge:

Pentacles - Crystal Magick
Cups - Potion
Wands - Candle Magick
Swords - Chanted Spell

If your preferred medium is the Tarot deck itself, simply choose and charge the card from the suggested suit that best fits your working. (Advanced option: choose the Major Arcana Tarot card best corresponding to both the suggested Element and the working you have in mind)

The third card tells you what your own energy levels are like and the fourth card tells you how to raise your energy. Do you need to rest or take some exercise? Should you phone a friend? Perhaps you need to detach or do a cord cutting?

The fifth card tells you the outcome. If card one promises success and you still don't like the outcome, you can pull a 'tweak card' and another outcome card. One final tweak round can be done. Do not pull more than nine cards total. If you're still not happy, something about this reading was off. Wait another day or two and have a do-over with the cards.

The Writer's Block Tarot Spread

$

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” ― Maya Angelou
Have you ever wondered how many book titles there would be in circulation if everyone who ever dreamed about writing a book actually did write one? Are you dreaming about writing a book too? You're not alone!
Since I was about 15, I have known that I have a book in me. Going by the amount of words I blog on a weekly basis, I have several. So how come I can't seem to commit to writing one? I have a great first sentence for one book and am about a third way through three abandoned book projects over the past few years. Sigh.
Perhaps you can relate to this? Perhaps you're struggling to get started or stay committed? Perhaps you prefer the dream of having written a Pulitzer prize winning New York Times best seller to the harsh reality of putting ink on paper (or pixels on a screen)?
I found some brilliant quotes in this article by Arielle Ford and though that I could turn a few of those into a Tarot Spread that could help me stay on track with the idea I have now for a book:
1. Release yourself from the expectation that they have to be a perfect, brilliant 500 words. Just show up each day and do your best for that day. ~ Spring
This one is about discipline and not getting caught in the trap of 'perfection' as there is no such thing anyway!

2. Our inspiration comes in the form of the deeply held belief that someone else, right now, is writing the same book, and they could beat us to market if we don't hurry. ~ Jon
Are you meant to write this book? Are you the Universe's first choice? Look for positive reinforcement here. Any expansive cards (especially The Wheel of Fortune), the Aces and any of your birth cards or court cards would be confirmation.
3. Pretend it is like great sex! Writing and sex are both about being in the moment, being in the flow of energy. Also, pray to your personal muses. ~ Laurie
On how to get your spiritual mojo going, what deities / muses to call on and how to stay in a state of relaxed flow. Your creative mojo and your sex drive are totally made of the same stuff...
4. For me, when writing wanes, it is usually because a bigger/deeper/truer thought than the one I have in mind is trying to break through. So I hold that possibility and look for it. ~ Robin
Are you meant to be writing something else? One of the positive/expansive cards in this position could mean you are meant to write something else and need to sit tight until you know exactly what.
First you need to choose a significator for yourself - one that is in harmony with your ideal writer persona. For me it was a no-brainer: The Magician... However, it may be another card entirely for you. Maybe the The Queen of Swords? Use your intuition!
The second card crosses your significator and symbolises your main current block/challenge. Around this central cross, you place the other four cards:

Deck Interview with the Chrysalis Tarot

Deck Interview with the Chrysalis Tarot - Click to enlarge
The 4 star review I posted on Amazon a couple of days after the US Games Chrysalis Tarot by Holly Sierra (artist) and Toney Brooks arrived:

"I'm rating the Chrysalis Tarot more as an oracle deck. We are moving quite far outside the boundaries of traditional Tarot and I do not agree with many of the interpretations in the LWB (especially not the Court Cards). Also not too keen on 'Spirals' for the Wands suit. Can you still use this deck for readings in spite of the aberrations? Yes, it's quite easy to read with intuitively but don't get too stuck in 'Tarot think' - allow the gorgeous images to speak. If you are a beginner and feel drawn to this deck, I recommend that you use a RWS deck for your studies / daily draw and reach your own conclusions about the validity of this new metaphysical interpretation of the Tarot, which I consider a flight of fancy that should have landed in the realm of Oracles rather than Tarot."

I have had opportunity to familiarise myself further with the deck since and I did read the (fantastical) Little White Book all the way through before posting the review. I still feel the same. That said, I do love this deck and have used it for many of my client readings since. I so badly wanted to give it five stars because I'm in love with the artwork but the LWB with its strange meanings/associations put me off.

But enough about me - let's speak directly with the daemon of this deck!

1. Describe yourself in three words or less - 2 of Swords/Scrolls (Moon in Libra)
CT: A fantasy deck - Fantasy, as you noticed reading through the LWB, is the keyword for this card.
Me: Yes, and as you know, this is one of the (many) Minors that I really struggle understanding the new and rather strange associations for but since I decided to read with the Chrysalis Tarot more as an oracle deck, I smile every time this card shows up. I do love unicorns!
2. How would your best friend describe you using only three words? - Judgment/Phoenix (Fire/Pluto)
CT: Wayshower and prophet
Me: Yes, I get a feeling many people will find you helpful in terms of spiritual development and couldn't help but notice that readings about money matters don't really jive with you... Is that right?
CT: Yes, I do prefer to read on questions that aim at raising a person's consciousness or creating more harmonious relationships.
3. What gift do you bring? - 2 of Cups/Mirrors (Venus in Cancer)
CT:
The gift of love and friendship
Me: Yes, I can see that. I already enjoy keeping you close at hand for personal readings and always find the messages comforting in a way that speaking with a trusted friend is comforting.
4. What do you expect in return?  - Justice/Maat (Libra)
CT: Fairness, peace and harmony - strive to help your clients achieve this through all readings you do with me.
5. How can you help me serve? - The Fool/Merlin (Air/Uranus)
CT: By deviating from traditional Tarot meanings, I'm teaching you to rely more on visual clues and your own intuition. You'll get some pretty unexpected messages from cards you think you know really well this way.
Me: Sounds good to me!
6. Is there anything else you would like to tell me about yourself? - 3 of Cups/Mirrors (Mercury in Cancer)
CT: Just enjoy! I know you already are... And remember, you'll get much deeper insights by just looking at the images and relying on your intuition than if you use logic and traditional Tarot knowledge.
Me: Thank you, Daemon of the Chrysalis Tarot. It's been great getting to know you a bit better and I will most certainly enjoy working with you more in the future!

Deck Interview with the Daemon Tarot by Ariana Osborne

I first stumbled across the visually appealing Daemon Tarot on tumblr and decided I had to have it, not knowing if I would be able to divine with it or not. This is not a Tarot deck at all, by the way, as the guide book clearly states. It's a 69 card oracle - each card depicting  a demon/daemon.

After looking through the images and reading snippets from the guide book, I'm still not sure if this deck is readable even though the antique images by Louis Breton are really cool. There is a brief introductory snippet about each daemon in the book by Ariana Osborne but the actual divinatory guidance is scant (only one sentence for each card). However, Osborne does encourage the reader to come up with their own meanings.

He who has rejected his demons badgers us to death with his angels
― Henri Michaux
The thought of interviewing a deck based on the demonology of the Infernal Dictionary didn't make me nervous at first but when I edited the deck interview picture it showed up reversed in the editing window in spite of me taking the picture with the camera upright. That has literally never happened before *cue spooky music*
Daemon Tarot - click to enlarge
1. Describe yourself in three words or less - Agares
DT:Order, defence and communication
Me: I get a feeling that this deck comes in handy if I should find myself under fire? Is that right?
DT: Correct. Don't call on us needlessly. We don't give a flying fuck about romance or if he is 'The One'
2. How would your best friend describe you using only three words? - Marochias
DT: Fierce, realistic... sly ;)
Me:Aha... So... umm... can you guarantee you won't be playing tricks on me when I come to you for help.
CT: Nope.
3. What gift do you bring? - Caym
DT: The gift of premonition.
Me: Hey, that's pretty nifty... considering you're an oracle and all. But I get a feeling that the gift may surface at other times than the actual reading, through observance of signs in nature etc. Is that correct?
DT: That's a distinct possibility.

4. What do you expect in return?  - Bael
DT: Self-mastery
Me: Sounds fair enough. It reminds me of the following quote...
It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.
― Buddha
5. How can you help me serve? - Rahovart
DT:By helping you see beneath the surface
6. Is there anything else you would like to tell me about yourself? - Barbatos
DT: The more you attune yourself to Nature and the kingdoms of plants and animals, the better you will be able to hear our voice
Me: Thank you, Daemon of the Daemon Tarot. I feel the presence of the Horned God here more than that of the Christian version of Satan and his demons. One last question... Are daemons evil?
DT: That's like asking if humans are. Some are. You can be pretty evil too at times.

If I got rid of my demons, I’d lose my angels.
― Tennessee Williams

Get Back on Track With the Life Purpose Tarot Spread

$
0
0

Have you been sidetracked from your life purpose? Are your goals and dreams on the back burner? Do you feel as if fate is at cross purposes with your destiny and desire to serve humanity with your gifts for the Highest Good of All?

Knowing your life purpose and fulfilling it is not always the same. Dreams of a brighter future that glimmer tantalisingly by moonlight, often seem pale and unachievable in the harsh light of day. Discerning between fantasy and one's true calling can be tricky. The Tarot can help!

The Tarot and Oracle spread below uses three different Tarot decks to allow for repetition of significant cards. In addition to three Tarot cards each for Fate/Soul Contract (The Wheel of Fortune), Current Lesson (The Fool) and Action Advice (Strength), there is an Oracle (of your choice) card for the same. The oracle cards will provide spiritual insights and guidance.

If you work with runes, you may also use the simple 3 rune Well of UrdPast/Present/Future draw to gain further insights.

click to enlarge and print out
How to do the spread:

1. Shuffle and cut the first Tarot deck. Look through the cards until you find the Wheel of Fortune. The two cards immediately following the Wheel are the Fate theme and challenge. This shows you the fated element of your Life Purpose.
2. Shuffle and cut deck two. Locate The Fool and the two cards after The Fool which make up the Current Lesson theme and challenge. Take a minute to think about how these cards mirror what is happening in your life right now.
3. Repeat the operation with deck number three but this time locate Strength + two more cards for Action Advice. These cards relate both to the fated element and your current life lesson and helps you align with the fated element/your Higher Self in the now.
4. Shuffle and cut the oracle deck and lay out the three spiritual guidance cards at the end of each row. Relate each of the Oracle cards to the preceding Tarot cards and meditate on the guidance provided therein.
5. (optional/advanced) Finally lay out the three runes according to the picture above. Please note that the runes should only be read if/when you have grasped the messages contained in the cards as they may otherwise create confusion.

SAMPLE SPREAD

For this Life Purpose reading I chose to work with the Alchemical Tarot, the Crystal Visions Tarot, the Golden Botticelli Tarot and the Higher Intuitions Oracle. I also pulled three runes.

The rune element of this reading constitutes fated elements of past present future. In this case, the future is set in stone. This is because the three runes of the Well of Urd spread are associate with the three Norns (Norse Fates) Urd, Verdandi and Skuld.

Hence, it is important to set a time frame for the reading. I suggest looking no more than six months ahead.

Look out for any cards that repeat themselves or that relate to your own Birth/Personality cards. The more Majors, the more fated things are. Remember, even when events are fated, you still have an element of choice. You have the choice to process and integrate events in a spirit of fear or love and gratitude.

The Oracle advice is the main focus of this reading. See it as a gentle hug from Spirit and know that you are always supported on your Life Path - the oracle cards show you how.

As you probably realise, this is a fairly advanced spread. Don't despair if you don't feel ready for it yet and keep studying!

10 Signs That You Are Ready To Go Pro with Your Tarot

$
0
0

Are you wanting to become a professional Tarot reader but are not quite sure if you have what it takes to go pro? Find out what sorts the wannabes from the real deal. This is the check list I wish someone had written for me when I first started hoping that my passion would one day become my profession.

With three financial years as a professional Tarot Reader under my belt (and nearly 30 years after my first reading), I feel ready to share what I have learned so that you can avoid some of the more common mistakes.

1. You deliver your practice readings with confidence - There is no set time limit for how long you have to study but only experience gives the kind of confidence that a professional exudes effortlessly. You know and trust the card messages.

2. You are not invested in the outcome - You have learned to detach enough to not sugar coat the card messages. You read what you see and know how to guide the client on how to best proceed from there.

It's OK to feel for and empathise with your clients but you must have a strategy for how to detach after/between readings - otherwise your energy will be all over the place. It's a simple matter of energy hygiene.

Difficulty with this usually harks back to third chakra issues.

3. You know when to say no - You know when to not read. Basic counselling studies are invaluable for this as for the ethics side of things. Some clients come to you when they are in dire need of medical professional help. It's essential to know when to refer clients on. The same goes for clients who come to you with questions that require professional legal or financial advice.

4. You have ethics - Beyond the point of referring clients on and 100% client confidentiality, it is not for me to say what your personal ethics should entail but you will need to make clear what they are to your clients so that the clients can know if you are a good fit.

Some Tarot readers read for under 18's (with parental consent) and some don't. Some will use the cards to help clients look in to extramarital affairs - others won't. Some will read on fertility questions and some won't. It's all OK... as long as you and your client are clear on what goes.

Think this through and add your ethics to your website/leaflet as soon as you start advertising. If you belong to a Tarot organisation, you will be bound by their ethics and that is why many of us choose to fly solo.

You can find my reader's ethics HERE.

5. You know your own limitations - Limitations came in many shapes and forms. Here are some examples:

  • Having limited knowledge about particular subjects. For instance. A business person who comes to you with a complex question about how to best advertise his services may be best off referred onto a Tarot Reader who specialises in business. As your own knowledge base grows, you will be able to read on more and more specialised topics. This is why Tarot readers become better with age and experience. You learn to see more and more practical application for the 78 keys.
  • Not being able to operate without a certain numbers of sleep or when you have a cold. (reschedule)
  • Not being able to read timing questions. Be honest with your client about it if this is the case - it may or may not matter to them.
  • Not being good at expressing yourself in writing (rules out email readings)
  • Feeling 'invaded' when you do face to face readings from your own home (rules out reading from home)

6. You value your time and charge accordingly - Understand that it is your time you charge for, not your gift. Calculate how much you need to charge in order to actually make a living. You aren't doing anyone any favours by trying to undercut the competition.

7. You understand how to use free readings - As a general rule, most people don't value what they get for free. Free reading should be used moderately to showcase your skills and to give people a taste of what you are capable of.

8. You know or are willing to learn basic bookkeping and other basic business skills - There is usually a local business centre willing to help with information on this, in addition to what you can find online. I attended a one day course which took me from doubtful if it was doable to a 100% 'Yes, I can do this!' - Best investment ever.

9. You are prepared and have a strategy for handling disgruntled customers and scammers - Not everyone is going to love your readings. I find this is especially true for people who can't let go of a particular lover. When you deliver the 'not hoped for' news, they may even respond with aggression. This really took me by surprise when I first started out but my policy was always to instantly refund them their money. It is good business practice to have a 30 day 'no hassle refund policy.'

When you do have a refund policy in place you will get the odd scammer. Be OK with that and remember it's their karma, not yours.

Also, if you accept payments through PayPal, some will use the e-cheque payment method. If you want to make sure they don't use this method to scam you for a free reading, simply don't deliver the reading until after the payment goes through (PayPal notifies you of this).

10. You know your prospective clients and how to target them with advertising - Learn which social media is the best fit for the kind of clients that will want your services. Tumblr, for instance, has a younger audience and may therefore expect more freebies and a different reading style to your Facebook audience. Invest your time wisely.

If you blog, network your blogs as much as possible across all social media (including the ones you don't usually hang out on). One quick way to get noticed if you are just starting out is to comment on bigger, more wellknown blogs.

Remember, you are your brand, so you can't be afraid to put a name and a face on your services. Be you, be original. Don't copy other readers. Bring what is uniquely yours to the table.

If you are looking to do more face-to-face readings, do as many psychic fairs as possible and consider offering Tarot parties alongside 1-2-1 readings. Always carry your business cards and some leaflets wherever you go.

If you found this article helpful, please give it a social media share!

Lots of Love,

Lisa
